Zantra JAD and 3manager

Zantra JAD and 3manager
Zantra JAD is delighted to announce a new partnership with Print Optimisation specialists 3manager. The purpose of working with 3manager is to offer our customers a fantastic new service, monitoring and analysing actual printing activity to accurately identify real opportunities to optimise printing and save costs:
Printing is a big cost for businesses and an area where it’s all too easy to slip into wasteful and expensive practices. It’s not just the initial purchase price of a printer but all of the ongoing running and maintenance costs too; toner, ink, paper, spare parts, power consumption etc.
The partnership with 3manager is an exciting addition to our print management portfolio, enabling Zantra JAD to offer print, scan and copy optimisation services to customers of all sizes.
Previously benefiting from optimised printing was reserved only for large enterprise businesses as it required a costly team of consultants to estimate usage and produce recommendations. 3Manager makes it possible for any business to benefit.
3manager is an independent solution, designed to show customers where they can find savings, and ways to optimise copier and printer usage, regardless of brand. A small software client monitors all of the devices on a network and collects data to provide intelligence on how efficiently printers etc are operating. It will include information around power consumption, paper and toner consumption, emmissions and performance.
Once the monitoring tool is live Zantra JAD will be able to provide a report to show which printers are under / over utilised, how much various units have cost over a period and provide recommendations based on real usage data as to where further efficiencies could be made.
It’s not all about spending more now to save later; yes rationalisation, replacement or migrating to a fully managed print solution may be beneficial, but the best solution for your business may be as simple as re-deploying your existing equipment in a more efficient way. Regardless, the results are the same, improving the user experience and realising significant savings.
We’re looking for new and existing clients in September and October 2011 to trial 3manager within their business for 30 days, completely free. At the end of the trial we’ll present you with a report which could lead to the biggest cost saving your business will make this year.

Devon is a big winner in Rural Broadband Funding announcement.

In August 2011 the Government allocated more than £363m to spend on improving Broadband across Britain. Jointly Devon and Somerset are to benefit from the largest allocation of £31.3m.
Whilst Broadband access in Devon has been slowly improving over the last decade, many homes and businesses in rural parts of the county still suffer with insufficient connection speeds and unreliable connectivity. It’s more than a slight annoyance for many of Zantra JAD’s rural customers; with the internet playing an increasingly large part of our personal and professional lives, poor connectivity is actually beginning to disadvantage businesses. Thankfully good news is on the horizon.
Broadband in Devon is set for a boost following the allocation of £31.3m to be shared between Devon and Somerset. The aim is to take broadband to places where it’s not commercially viable for private businesses (such as Virgin Media and BT) to do so.
The Countryside Alliance welcomed the investment but questioned whether the investment would be enough for Britain to compete with other European countries. The aim of the funding here in England is to ensure that 90% of homes and businesses will have access to superfast broadband by 2015. In comparison, Denmark already has 99% of homes and businesses benefiting from such coverage.
However at Zantra we’re pleased that Devon is to be given such a significant boost. It means our customers will be able to benefit from advanced services such as Remote Backups, Remote Monitoring, Cloud Computing and Remote / Mobile Working. Not just improving the user experience but allowing our rural customers to compete in a national and global capacity.

Choosing the Right Printer

Choosing the Right Printer

Points to consider when buying a new printer – what’s best for you? Laser or Inkjet?...

Buying a new printer can be a real headache can’t it? With so many different options to choose from just where do you start? The first thing to think about is what you actually need the printer for and what do you need it to do? Let’s have a look at a few scenarios:

The Small Home Business
Maybe you run a small business from your spare bedroom or perhaps just need something to print off the kids homework, take care of the bills, shopping lists, Christmas card lists, etc. So you don’t do a lot of printing but need something that is versatile, affordable and can print off everything from coupons to documents to photos. The best printer for you would be a Colour Inkjet Printer. This would be a cost-effective versatile option. A basic Multi-function Inkjet Printer which also offers scanning and copying could also be a consideration.

Try: Canon Pixma iP2702 @ £39.95 OR HP Officejet 6000 @ £59.95

The Writer
Are you a budding author? Perhaps working on your first novel? If so you will need a printer that can churn out dozens of pages fast and efficiently. Colour won’t be a priority but reliability, speed and good quality will be. Double sided printing (duplex) would also be helpful. In this instance a Laser Printer would be your best option. Whilst the initial up-front cost would be higher than an inkjet printer, it would offer you much better print quality along with speed and duplex printing.

Try: Brother HL-2270DW @ £145.00 OR HP P2055D @ £169.00

The Work-from-home Boss
Your printer is the one thing you rely on. It needs to print, scan, copy & fax to keep you in touch with the head office and at the same time be durable, hard-working, dependable and easy to use. Think Multi-function here (MFP) or an All-in-One. These are big inkjet printers at an affordable price.

Try: HP Officejet G510G @ £64.95 OR HP Officejet 6500A @ £84.95

The Traveller
You’re on the move all the time by road or air. You need something small and portable to carry around in your laptop case. It needs to be able to print out your contracts and quotes. Solution - a Mobile Inkjet Printer. A lot of printer in a small package! It can print in colour, run off batteries and connect wirelessly to your laptop.

Try: HP Officejet 100 @ £210.00 OR Canon iP100 @ £230.00

The Photo Enthusiast
You fill your spare time by roaming around the streets and countryside with digital camera in hand, taking photos of the world around you. Your ideal printer would offer you high quality colour printing with clear sharp images reproduced on photographic glossy paper. You need a Photo Printer to give you first-class prints in a range of sizes. Many connect directly to your camera making printing even easier.

Try: Lexmark P315 @ £76.50 OR Canon CP800 @ £81.50

For the Office
Office requirements are a little bit different, for a start you most likely need something which can be networked and shared between many people. You may or may not need to print in colour or duplex to save paper. You may just want a small workhorse which sits quietly in the corner printing out simple black and white text in seconds or you may need a big multi-function unit which can scan, fax and e-mail your documents as well as printing in A4/ A3.
Here we'd recommend giving us a call to discuss your requirements. We can help understand the options available and if you're thinking of upgrading your printer estate then we can install software to monitor your current usage and provide real information back to show how much you could save with various different options.
